I spent all my childhood wondering when I would grow up. The world of adults was so fascinating for me. Every time the class monitor wrote the quote "Childhood is the golden period of one's life", on the board, I sat wondering what was so special about childhood. The world of children seemed silly and stupid to me even though I too was a child. I couldn't wait for the day I could grow older.
The years flew by and before I even realised it, I had grown up. This was not what I thought the world of adults to be. Why do I have to be constantly criticised and judged for every act, every word? Why do I feel lonely even though I stand amidst a great crowd? Why are people always talking behind my back? Why is there so much deceit and betrayal? Looking back at the little me who wanted to be an adult, I realised that,now, I was lonely like her. Some people never fit in anywhere. It is their own world that suits them the best.
